So how did Crumpet get her name you may ask, well this was my wife's idea actually and pretty much how you would expect it to be conceived. Like we were just sitting down at the breakfast table with a plate of Crumpets (as you do), suddenly my wife (Miyuki) say's "if we end up with a greyhound I think Crumpet would be a neat name." I sighed (of course), as trying to imagine calling a dog by this name...
We picked up Misty (formerly Blue) 5 weeks ago from the kennels in Cambridge. We fell in love with her from the minute we laid eyes on her. Our first image of Misty was her leaping up and down in the kennels with great excitement and even more height.
Olivia came to us in April and we haven't looked back since. 'Libby' as she has affectionately become known, has fitted into life with her pal Stitch, two cats, two rabbits, a guinea pig and a piglet and if you didn't know better you would think she has lived with us her whole life! Libby is the most sweet, loving, cuddly girl we could have wished for and has fitted into pet life like she was made for it. After an initial couple of runs ins with the cats she quickly figured out they aren't for chasing and they have been great mates ever since.
In response to our recent survey on "How you heard about greyhounds?" we received this funny update on Smiler (Pango Will He) and his idyllic life with his pal Bree and humans Andrew and Marie.
"Our first contact with greyhounds was at an A&P show, I think it was Helensville. Over the years we have had a number of dogs, an Old English Sheepdog which made the journey over from the UK with us in 1981, a German Shepherd and a number of Heinz 57's.
Canteen race dog, Jackpot Jackie, went to her new home in the Waikato in February this year. Her owner, Karyn Gardner is clearly smitten as she's since been joined by Kylie (Pint Star) from the Craik kennels. Jackie was trained by Gary Cleeve and her winnings went to support CanTeen New Zealand, an organisation supporting young people living with cancer. Karyn sent us this update on her hounds.
