Meet Richie – Affectionate, Sassy, and Full of Character

Richie is a big-hearted boy with a wonderfully affectionate nature and plenty of personality to spare. He adores human attention and is never shy about asking for it — if you stop patting him too soon, you’ll likely get a cheeky paw or two to remind you to keep going. His love for pats is genuine and constant, and being close to his people is where he feels most content.

Richie does have some challenges that his future home will need to be ready to support. He experiences separation anxiety, and we’re currently trialling anxiety medication to help him feel more settled when left. His foster has also noticed that he may benefit from living with another dog, as companionship appears to help him feel more secure. Richie also enjoys having the freedom to move in and out of the house and roam around a safe property, which helps him regulate himself and relax.

While Richie can be sensitive at times, he’s still a large, strong dog and can be boisterous when playing or excited. Because of this, he’s better suited to people who are comfortable managing a bigger dog when he gets excited, and who can offer calm guidance alongside affection and reassurance.

For the right home — one with time, patience, and a sense of humour — Richie will give back in spades. He’s loyal, deeply affectionate, and full of quirky charm, and with the right support he has so much potential to settle into a secure, happy companion.
