Merlot is a delightful girl, outgoing and social, responsive and affectionate to her handler. She likes toys and food treats and is an all round happy girl. 

Merlot's owner has had some difficult health news and now spends more time in hospital then at home, so is in the very sad position of having to re-home her precious girl.

Here is what she says about Merlot:

"She is a beautiful girl and this is a really difficult decision that I have cried over.

She is a family dog and is also best friends with my cat (who is now living with my sister in Dunedin,as I've had to re-home him also.) They would snuggle up on the couch together and lie in the sun outside.

She has her own area of the house (back room with baby gate) where she can go for quiet when she needs.

She has never had an accident inside and is good to walk on the lead, I haven't done off lead with her due to the amount of dogs being attacked in Christchurch. I like to keep her close when out as I've also had 1 or 2 dogs lunge at us when walking.

She loves car rides and adores the beach - we frequent new Brighton.

She eats twice a day - kibble in morning and kibble with meat (chicken, sardines ect) at night.

She does dig holes if I'm out for the day, but this has improved with stimulating toys and getting a friend to walk her.

Brushing her teeth is something I'm working on getting her to tolerate, she's very fussy.

She would suit a family home with older kids 5+ and is good with cats.

She has so much love to give and I want the absolute best for her which includes more company and walks then I'm able to give her now due to health.

Her vet has been New Brighton vets. She is flead, wormed and registered, and will need her teeth cleaned in about a year or so. She has leads, bowls, a fleece jacket and even comes with her big bed!

If possible, I would love photo updates to see her settling in and to see what lovely person/family adopts her.

I'm going to really miss her".
