Crystal
I am in my new home -We picked up Crystal on Good Friday from Otaki to foster her and maybe adopt her. We were told that we had 4 weeks to make a decision one way or the other.
The photo is Crystal completely at home after just 4 hours residence. Crystal and Lilley get on well together and neither is possessive about their beds, toys or food bowls. Crystal is such a sweet lovely girl so after just 1 week we decided to adopt her.
When she came to us she had a very slight limp but it got steadily worse, especially when walking on hard ground. We thought it could be a corn but weren’t sure so it was off to the vet. No corn, said the vet, but she has strained the big muscle on her left leg. So now she is on a course of anti-inflammatories and she gets a 2-3 minute massage several times a day, which she thoroughly enjoys. The vet also said to keep her quiet and not let her run for a couple of weeks – yeah right!
Crystal craves affection and frequently, more so than Lilley, comes to one of us for a pat and cuddle. But of course when Lilley sees this, she wants her share as well. Just as well we both have two arms and hands. Both Sue and I think that Crystal has had a hard life in the past and it’s great to see her confidence grow and is losing her hang dog demeanour.
Someone once said that greyhounds are addictive – they were sure right.
I'm a lovely, easy going quiet oldie but pretty fit and 'out there' for my age.
Update from foster carer - March 2014 Crystal is a lovely lovely dog. She walks on the lead really well and is a great wee lass. She is a wee character and loves routine and would be great company for someone at home during the day.
