Homebush Sam
SAM
Farewell Sam my handsome lad
Thank you for all the years we've had.
In your younger years you loved to run
Along the beach just for fun
Now you're free from pain and strife
You can again run free in your spirit life
Blessed are we to have known you so
Saddened that you have to go
But old age has come and slowed you down
And ill health has left you on shaky ground
I feel your pain when you try and walk
When you stagger and almost fall
To let you go hurts me so
But its best for you that I know
Farewell my Sammy Jay my boy
Thank you so for bringing me joy
Rest in peace Samborghini
Safe journey, a life well lived
Until we meet again.
I've had Sam since 2006, he was one of five hounds who were brought into GAP by Greyhound Racing as he hadn't been cared for properly. As he'd had a rough start I did give him extra TLC - from the start he made it very clear where he wanted to be and that was inside on the big leather couch. During the day he had a very nice bed in a spacious shed and a nice back garden to roam around in but that wasn't what he wanted, he dug his way out dismantled the cat door squeezed through the hole in the glass and made himself comfy on the couch. He did this twice and after talking to Sonja at the GAP kennels I decided to give in to him - hence a large dog door was installed which he has happily used ever since.
He's always got on well with our cats he just loves them and they love him I think he secretly thinks he is a cat. He gets on well with our other hound Jack with just the odd niggle at each other over the best spot on the couch
