Update on Virtue (Sister Virtue)

Here's what Fraser had to say about his new pretty on pink hound Virtue (Sister Virtue)

Virtue settled into home life really really quickly - I think she had already had some practice at sleeping in comfy spots inside. The first thing we noticed when we got home is that Virtue added a real presence to the house, I guess this is due to her size. She is however a very quiet presence. She was very calm and collected from day one and has only gotten more and more comfortable at home. She took a a couple of days to suss the place out, realised where her space was and just settled in. She quickly adapted to the routine of the household, and reminds us almost to the minute when we should be out of bed and taking her for her morning walk.

Also you get a very quiet nudge if your on the couch and dinner is late. I realised about 2 weeks ago that Virtue was feeling really at home and we were her new family, as when I arrived home from work I heard her walk to the top of the stairs and start crying as she waited for me to come upstairs. Silly hound!

Virtue has been an absolute hit with the children who love her to pieces.

My eldest boy (5) is slightly taller than her, and loves being able to give her cuddles standing up. He also thinks it is hilarious when she laps around the trampoline while her is bouncing on it. Virtue is taller than my youngest boy, but is very very gentle with the children. She will let them get away with murder, and if she has had enough she just excuses herself to her crate with no fuss at all. The children have been told to respect her space and are not allowed around her crate so she can escape the madness.

She is a very good girl - she can be left alone inside with no issues, doesn't counter surf and has only tried getting on the beds once. She can walk backwards down the entire length of the hallway which I think is extremely clever, will leap over my wife while she puts her shoes on for a walk and can do laps around the yard in under 4 seconds. She loves to play and will often engage us in a game of catch and chase - involving her favourite soft tiger toy. She is however an adept burglar, and can steal teddy bears and slippers with consummate ease. She is able to sneak into out of bounds areas, select her booty and escape undetected. The only thing that gives her away is the thunderous clatter of her taking off down the hallway with her prize. Which is subsequently removed  from her possession!

We haven't seen any cock roaching as yet but I'm sure she can do it.

Getting Virtue has forced me to do exercise every day, I'm now walking every day which is something I hadn't been doing. She has also got us into the habit of exploring Auckland a bit more - looking for good spots for walks. Not a weekend goes by now where we don't head out somewhere for our weekend walk. All in all positive outcomes from adopting our needle nose.

Greyhounds are just  a fantastic breed and we all love Virtue to bits, GAP did a fantastic job matching us together, and she is a wonderful addition to our family.

Cheers,

Fraser
