We adopted Ramsey, now known as Batman, from the Hampton Downs Kennels, and it was the best decision we could have made in terms of adopting a dog. I have grown up with Greyhounds at home, so know what wonderful pets they make, so it was an easy decision for me. We still did some research into dog breeds, but the Greyhound kept coming out on top for many reasons!
Nate had never met a Greyhound before and didn't know too much about them, but he has very quickly fallen in love with them, which is not hard!
We chose Batman because of his chilled out nature and how calm he was around other dogs, and even the cat at the kennels.
After only having Batman for a week and half he has settled in so quickly and easily. He has certainly discovered the comforts of being a pet (mainly the couch and his comfy bed!). It has been quite amusing watching him discover new things, like his reflection in the mirrors at home, which he still can't quite figure out!
He has been to lots of new places and met lots of new dogs and has been an angel everywhere he goes. He is a gentlemen with dogs of all shapes and sizes. His new best friends are Gus and Daisy (two Jack Russells), but he likes coming home to peace and quiet where he can snooze on his couch watching TV!
He gets a lot of attention when out walking and a lot of people ask what breed he is, so it has been great telling people about Greyhounds and how amazing they are, and Batman is perfect for promoting the breed! Considering Batman has never lived inside a house before it is quite amazing how quickly he has settled
right into home life and he already knows his routine at home. I don't suppose he had ever been on a couch before, but within the first day he had established this was a good place to relax (another thing Greyhounds are very good at!).
