Update on Cortez (Hailey's Agent)

Cortez has been part of our family for over two years now.  He is well and truly enjoying his retirement so much that even he and our cat Lucy are friends!  He has developed a real cheeky side, this involves taking our daughter, Emily's, soft toys outside or onto his bed when we have left him for too long.  This is his protest!

Cortez really loves when it is time for Emily to walk to school - there is no way we can leave him behind!  Also when he realises that we are off out in the car he races us outside and stands and waits at the back of the car - it is pretty hard to leave him at home.

Summer time brings out the naughty side, this being digging holes!  He does this as the evenings cool down.  He does not do this in the winter time at all, cheeky boy!

He is a real show stopper in our community when we are out walking as he loves cuddles and pats from the kids and adults.  Life with Cortez is never dull and we love him to bits.

His favourite thing I would have to say is his bed!  Followed by his toys and then food.

We are shortly relocating to Tauranga.  We will be getting in touch with GAP owners up there, it's a great way to help us meet people and I know Cortez will love a good run with new friends.  We have decided to fly him up there as we feel it will be a nice quick trip for him and he can arrive a day or two after us.  We feel it will be less stress on him as we won't be unpacking and sorting around him.

Cortez was an amazing racer. We send his trainer updates every now and again and keep in touch on Facebook.

Adopting a Greyhound was the best decision we have ever made and the process was fantastic.  Irene and Sonja made us feel like we were not just adopting a dog but we were also joining a greyhound family.  We have made so many friends though having a greyhound it is just amazing. People say that he is lucky to have us, I think we are even more lucky to have him.
