Update on Bonnie (Yallah Rose)

Here's a lovely update from Bonnie (Yallah Rose), one of our gorgeous golden oldie hounds!

I thought I'd give you an update on Bonnie, who has just recently turned 12 years old.
She is a dear old lady now, but still has an occasional burst of speed in  the park. I walk six days a week with a big group of dogs and owners, up to  20 dogs sometimes. She  is dignified and slightly distant friends with all of them, except for three young un-neutered males all of which she flirts outrageously with. (The group calls her "the cougar".) She took ages to become smoochy, but is now both smoochy and playful -- especially if there is food in the offing. Still the greediest dog I've ever seen, and she's now significantly more chubby than when I got her (although the vet says she's fine). Everyone who comes to my house gets the leaping greeting, as a few of them bring Schmackos. But she doesn't discriminate -- always hopeful.

I wanted to let you know that the Pet Insurance Gold plan has been a godsend. Bonnie became ill before Christmas with pancreatitits (something dead she ate in the park I think). She was on drugs and a drip, and had numerous blood and other tests and an ultrasound. She is fully recovered from the pancreatitis, but the ultrasound revealed a 9cm tumour in her spleen. The doctor gave her a couple of months, and here we are six months later and she's got no internal pain, and is a very happy girl. It may be a
benign tumour (hope so). The insurance has been brilliant!

But she is, as I said, a happy if somewhat spoiled old lady.
