Update on Bernie (Unraced) and Piper (Unraced)

We, Bernie (6) & Piper (10), have just successfully completed our Canine Good Citizen Foundation exam and have passed!! A good result for all other greyhounds out there.

Catherine & Chris have been our personal slaves & guides to get us through for a while.

Bernie (the brindle and white hound)  has been living contentedly here in the Wairarapa for  just over 2 years, Piper (the black hound) arriving to join him about 6 months ago.

Bernie's biggest challenge was remembering to come when his name was called as he suffers from typical greyhound selective hearing.
Piper's challenge was to avoid the temptation of food being eaten by a stranger. We all suffer from our own weak points and need to work on them.
CGC exam day was terrible as it was during the weekend that one of the worst storms that had hit the Wellington / Wairarapa region in many years. But exams must go on. They managed to find us a nice dry hall to sit our test in. Owners and dogs were sent outside to wait their turn in temperatures under 5oC and we all needed to keep our coats on. But an enjoyable day for all.

Bernie is now practicing for his bronze award. Update to follow.

Good-luck to all others greyhounds looking at sitting  CGC as the instructors thought we were all lovely dogs to work with. Lovely manners and behaviour and we do all work well on leads.

Good luck to all

Bernie & Piper
