Masterton Dogs Day Out

On Sunday 12th May the Masterton South Rotary Club and Henley Trust hosted a Dogs' Day Out at Henley Lake in Masterton. They kindly allowed us to have a GAP stand at the event which was very much appreciated.

The Wairarapa put on a gorgeous autumn day for us which was fabulous and we had an awesome turnout of hounds, including visitors from the Hutt and two hounds (and their owners) who are new to the Wairarapa - Plank (Planking) and Todd (Major Conquest).  It was lovely to meet you!

All sorts of dogs showed up from St Bernard's

to Chihuahua's

and everything in between          and the hounds had a great time socialising with all of them. We got some lovely feedback from other attendees and two people said to me 'my next dog will be a greyhound' which is excellent.

There were activities scattered around the lake for the dogs to have a go at which were a lot of fun. Things like 'find the treat' and weave poles. Plus demonstrations from a sheepdog and his sheep, the Wairarapa Dog Obedience Club showed some Rally O (which greyhounds love once they get into it) and a Police Dog chased a 'criminal' down and restrained him - they are such brave dogs!

Thank you very much to those who attended! The organisers have said it was a successful day and they will hopefully organise another one. If anyone has any feedback on what could be done better next time please let me know and I will pass on to the organisers.

Rebecca and Blondie (Fancy Kate)

PS. Our cover dogs are Plank (Planking), and you might recognise Tux (Not Suited) and Lace from a previous Update!
