Greyhounds as Pets at Art Deco, Napier 2014

Well folks, we've survived another Art Deco weekend. As usual we took part in the Gatsby Picnic on Sunday afternoon and as usual it was an amazing way to pass the time on such a beautiful day.

This year, for us in particular, two things were different.

We took 4 Hounds with us!
It was the first solo event I've organised to raise funds and awareness for GAP.

The plan was for me and our two, Ruby and Finn, Jackie Hunt and their two, Blue and Cherry, to walk around with the collection buckets. What we actually ended up doing was parking the dogs at the front of the gazebo, in the shade, with the buckets nearby. At times we were inundated by passers by asking for information, photos and cuddles. All 4 dogs were absolute stars and played their part beautifully. We gave out loads of leaflets and collected a whopping $240.

I'd like to give huge thanks to Jackie Hunt (with Blue and Cherry), Tonia Duff (with Hugo), and Graeme Dakin (with Riley) for helping out by giving their time and rattling some buckets on what was an exceptionally hot weekend.

And last but not least a special thank you to Mya and Jessica. These 2 young girls were so taken by the dogs that they went off, did some busking, and then donated all their earnings to our collection. What an awesome thing to do.

Here's looking forward to next year
