GAP at the Cambridge News Expo

Last weekend GAP Waikato had a stall at the Cambridge News Expo. This expo is arranged by the local community newspaper, and aims to showcase the organisations that are at work in the Waipa community.
We were thrilled to be invited to take part - and we're looking forward to seeing our picture in the News in the near future! Waipa has a fairly high profile in terms of racing, so the opportunity to promote the work GAP does was very welcome.
It was a beautiful warm day, and we had a great position on the forecourt of the town hall. Around 5 hounds and owners shared the limelight; Sandra and big Roy (Big Rig Baz), Jane and Havoc (Beatrix Kiddo), Jackie and Blue (Blue Rage), Gary and Riley (Elite Impact), and Tony and I with Jolie (Snowie Secret) and Kourtney (unraced). We had the full range of sizes and colours, and attracted lots of interest!

There was a dog trainer in the same area as us who had some fairly high energy dogs with him - people commented on the difference they saw with our lovely chilled-out hounds. As usual we attracted questions for the owners about exercise, cats and how to get a hound, and the dogs scored lots of cuddles, strokes and the occasional treat.

As a result of this expo we've expanded our profile in the region and have opened up more possibilities for adoptions in the rural areas around Cambridge and Te Awamutu. Greyt stuff!
