Birthday girls ask for donations

An animal-loving Wellington family have come up with a great idea to celebrate their children's birthdays and support GAP at the same time.

Jo & John along with their two girls share their home with the mega smooch Oscar (Unplugged) and like to help out GAP whenever they can.

Back in March, the girls, Susannah and Gabbie, had a combined 10th and 6th birthday party with 24 friends at Lotsa Follies in the Takapu Valley near Tawa.

There were heaps of different animals to play with: rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, a turtle, a goat and even a big pet sheep called Yoda you could ride.

They had a sausage sizzle and lots of yummy party food. Susannah had a black and white cow cake and Gabbie had a pink rabbit cake.

The difference with this party was that there were no presents! Invitations had been sent out saying no presents were required but if people wished they could make a donation, half of which would  be given to GAP and half to the SPCA. Families were incredibly generous and Susannah and Gabbie were able to hand over $140 to each charity.

Thank you Gabbie and Susannah for coming up with this fantastic idea - it's a great reminder for us all to think about others.
