Bear is settling in really, really well. She minds and is very well-mannered (except when she is sniffed by other dogs - that worries and intimidates her - but we're working on that). She usually "asks" before getting on the couch, i.e. she will put a paw on and look at us to see if it's ok. :) She has a dream doggie bed but can't resist a cuddle on the couch when she can get away with it. Wherever she falls asleep, she seems pretty comfy because she woofs, "runs," and even wags her tail - pretty hilarious to watch. Of course her favorite sleeping position is the classic "cockroach." We have to be really careful when we put on our shoes, a sweater, or pick up a bag or anything resembling a leash - she will be wide awake and at the door, jumping and helicopter tail-ing absolutely desperate for a walk in the park or, even better, a ride in the car. It doesn't matter if we've just come in from a half hour walk, she will be ready to go back out again! She is such a curious dog and just loves being outdoors and sniffing everything and being baffled by the cricketers in the Domain and the birds flying overhead. She's a champ with stairs, but ironically, the only stairs she won't go up is our own because they're wooden, slippery, and see-through so she only goes up the first three and won't go any higher. And, although we bought her two squeaky toys and she's tried her very hardest to figure them out, she just can't yet and prefers to use them as pillows instead - if she's not "collecting" our own pillows off the couch when we're away. We're so happy with Bear and can't imagine how our lives were before she was here. : )
