Greyhound inspired Art Exhibition is a hit

DEEP CHEST; DEEP HEART    by Sandy de Kock

Presented at Space Gallery, Wanganui, 16th January 2016.

An exhibition of oil paintings and digital works celebrating my passion and love for the Greyhound.

"Perhaps one central reason for loving dogs is that they take us away from this obsession with ourselves. When our thoughts start to go in circles, and we seem unable to break away, wondering what horrible event the future holds for us, the dog opens a window into the delight of the moment.€

ۥ Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, Dogs Never Lie About Love: Reflections on the Emotional World of Dogs

Susan Rothenberg, contemporary American Artist now in her 70's, said that, "If you didn't know what to paint next, paint what is in your studio.€

I happen to have a hound or two in my studio at all times! I have always had Borzoi's and Italian Greyhounds. Two years ago, Lola, an ex racing Greyhound came to live with me via GAP and the Kotuku Foundation, and my life and passion for hounds was immeasurably enriched. Being an artist, it was only a matter of time before I seized the idea of the Greyhound as a subject for my next exhibition!

I am not a realist artist, neither am I an abstract artist, more of an expressionist. I use color and form to express my emotion in my paintings.

The digital works are all done working with photography, superimposing photographs, processes and color. I then draw with my finger, using technical processes via many different Applications on my ipad. I find it challenging and a respite from the oil paints that I usually work with.
